The last sold example achieved $4500 in 2016, graded MS62 by PCGS. A rare 1947 US mint gold disc or Saudi Arabian 1 pound. A low mintage and rare example of the coin known as ‘ the coins that weren’t’. Minted for payment for oil royalties as Saudi Arabia did not want to exchange for paper dollars. Many believed to have been melted down in 1951 to allow the Saudi government to strike their own coins making surviving examples rare and valuable to collectors.
